NEWFOUNDLAND WEATHER ALERT 12-15-16

Snowfall and Snow Squall Alert for Newfoundland.

Newfoundland is expecting an additional 15cm of snow today.  Snow is going to rapidly accumulate, making travel difficult over some parts of the province.  Snow squalls are expected to develop as well, with the possibilities of whiteout conditions because of the very strong blowing winds.

Conditions are said to improve by Friday evening.

    • Port aux Basques to North Sydney Thursday ,December 15, 2016 at 2345 is now scheduled to depart Saturday December 17, 2016 at 1145, weather permitting.
    • North Sydney to Port aux Basques Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 2345 is now scheduled to depart Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1145, weather permitting.
    • North Sydney to Port aux Basques Friday, December 16, 2016 at 1145 and 2345 is now scheduled to depart Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1145, weather permitting.
    • Port aux Basques to North Sydney Friday, December 16, 2016 at 1145 and 2345 is now scheduled to depart Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 1145, weather permitting.

 

Newfoundland Storm Warning 12-13-16

Winter Storm Warning;
Newfoundland is under a winter storm warning, with over 15 to 20 cm of snow expected.  As the snow accumulates strong winds will reduce visibility on the roads.
Due to the weather that this region is experiencing, Maritime-Ontario’s terminal in St. John’s will be closed today.

  • Port aux Basques to North Sydney Monday, December 12, 2016 at 2345 is now scheduled to depart Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 2345.
  • North Sydney to Port aux Basques Monday, December 12, 2016 at 2345 is now scheduled to depart Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 2345.
  • Port aux Basques to North Sydney Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 1145 is now scheduled to depart Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 2345
  • North Sydney to Port aux Basques Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 1145 is now scheduled to depart Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 2345.

East Coast Storm Warning 12-12-16

Snowfall Warnings for the East Coast 12-12-16

A low pressure system is expected throughout the entire East Coast today. Snowfall amounts of generally 15-20 centimetres is expected. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Snowfall Alert for New Brunswick – December 1, 2016

Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

An area of low pressure will move across New Brunswick today and tonight. This low pressure system will bring a mix of winter weather to the province. Central and northern parts of the province can expect to see as much as 25 cm of snow by this evening. Near Fredericton and south of the city the snow will change to rain near noon. Snowfall amounts will be highly variable across southern New Brunswick and along the Acadian coast as rain will significantly lower snowfall amounts.
Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.
