As a follow up to communication regarding the St. Lawrence River closures, as previously advised vessel traffic resumed on Saturday, January 26th. While our operational plan was to sail the Oceanex Connaigra from Montreal tonight, continued poor weather conditions across the country have prevented this from occurring, as many customer shipments have not yet arrived at the Oceanex pier in Montreal. As a result, the Oceanex Connaigra will now be departing Montreal on Thursday, January 31st at 18:00h and arriving in St. John’s on Sunday morning, February 2nd.
Furthermore, despite these ice and weather disruptions over the past week, we are pleased to advise that the Oceanex sailing schedule will resume its normal operating schedule next week, with the Oceanex Avalon scheduled for departure from Montreal on Tuesday, February 5th and the Oceanex Connaigra departing Montreal on Saturday, February 9th.
These recent ice challenges in the St. Lawrence River are by no means an indicator of future conditions. The Canadian Coast Guard have given clear indication that their mandate is to continue to ensure this vital waterway remains open to commercial ship traffic throughout the coming months.
