TRANSPORT CANADA – MARINE PROTECTION SURCHARGE

Please be advised that Transport Canada announced on April 28th, 2018 a mandatory speed restriction for vessels sailing through the Gulf of St. Lawrence, due to an increase in the presence of North Atlantic whales.

Oceanex Inc., the principal marine service provider offering twice weekly service to the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador via the port of Montreal, has announced a “TEMPORARY MARINE PROTECTION SURCHARGE”. This surcharge became effective April 28th, 2018 and will remain in effect until November 15th, 2018.

Please find attached a copy of the Oceanex press release advising that all users of their Montreal service will be subject to the Marine Protection Surcharge. As a result, Maritime-Ontario Freight Lines Limited have no alternative other than to cost recover these additional charges effective immediately. The cost recovery surcharge will be as follows.

Truck Load (FTL): $240.00 per unit.                                                OCEANEX MARINE PROTECTION SURCHARGE 2018

Less Than Truck Load (LTL): 3% of freight charges.
